Been looking for the perfect card reader to complement that ExpressCard-less MacBook Air of yours? Well here’s exactly what you aren’t looking for, the ImageRouter from Delkin. This thing is built for professional photographers who need to dump pictures in a hurry, and one of these $149 monstrosities can read up to four CompactFlash cards simultaneously over a USB 2.0 connection. But wait, there’s more! You can plug up to three ImageRouters into each other for a total of 12 CompactFlash cards in UDMA transfer mode all at the same time, perfect for all those 25 megapixel shots you’ve been snapping, or that RAID array you’ve been meaning to build. Delkin’s shipping this thing in March, and it also comes in a $249 version with some bundled BackupandBurn software.

The image “http://dvice.com/pics/frontsquare2filamentlitsmal.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Let’s re-consider the light bulb for a moment. Instead of a disposable, soulless compact florescent fixture, why not embrace a re-usable work of art like these dazzling bulbs hand-created by sculptor Dylan Kehde Roelofs?

The Dry Side

Don’t you love the days following a rainstorm? The streets seem to gleam, the air is cleaner, and people are generally in a better mood to finally see the sun again. The only thing that sucks are all those wet benches and chairs. Fortunately clever designers (the Korean design gang) came up with a simple solution. Each slat on these benches can rotate to the dry side by turning the handle.

We suppose everyone knows how hard it is to hide the trashbag from being seen. It is so common, we don’t even notice it anymore. That’s why we’re really happy to see that someone finally came up with the best solution!

Tubelor is the award winning product of the japanese Ideaco studio. It doesn’t only have a neat, minimalist design, but it also hides that ugly bag perfectly. Such a simple idea that makes us wonder: why did it take so long to come up with it?

fireplaceheater1.jpgDespite all their technology advances that often make the West look primitive, Japanese winters are brutal. The homes are rarely well insulated, and the heating systems are generally limited to a stationary wall mounted heater that doubles as an air conditioner in the summer. That’s why the Real Fireplace Illuminational Heater is a godsend for the average winterbound Japanese citizen and offers us all a look at the future of virtual wood burning.

The Real Fireplace gives you the look and aesthetic of a fireplace situated on a flatscreen display while the rest of the unit blasts toasty heat in your direction. For just 25,800 yen ($242) you too can snuggle up with your special someone bathed in futurist lob cabin coziness.

Troika’s Digital Cloud

It was commissioned by British Airways for their new luxury lounges in Heathrow Airport in London, and was constructed by the Troika art and design studio. Cloud is 5 meters long and is covered with 4,638 of those little flip dot things that you still occasionally see in train station displays. The dots flip back and forth between black and reflective silver, creating both visual patterns and a nifty rainstick sound.

Sharing Water

I bet some of you have potted plants somewhere in your garden and half of you actually take care of them. Why not be a little kind to nature’s creatures and get the City Oasis pot. It’s pretty much a regular pot with a modern flare but what’s unique is the drain plate. It’s a lot wider than normal and holds a lot more water; perfect for the neighborhood alley cat. Clean water is hard to come by so share and share alike.
