Space Shuttle may launch 5300mph paper airplane
Here’s a sure sign that the U.S. space shuttle is a solution looking for a problem: The space plane might be launching a paper airplane that will glide back to earth at 5300 miles per hour. The Japan Origami Airplane Association was tapped by researchers at the University of Tokyo to fold up a 3.1-inch plane made of specially treated paper that can withstand the extreme heat caused by the friction of re-entry.
Honestly, folks. Paper airplanes? This sounds like something we did on the last day of school. Is the space shuttle program trying to set a new world record for Fastest Paper Airplane? Damn, NASA. The space shuttle jumped the shark long ago. Go to Mars already, or get cracking on that moon base we’ve been hearing about for the past four decades. Anything but this useless low-earth-orbiting space bus that goes nowhere, and does little but fly paper airplanes and kill brave astronauts.

I wonder what they’re going to do when their special paper doesn’t burn up and hits somebody when it reaches earth. Going that fast it’ll do some damage…
