The Mile-high London Tower

london_tower_4.jpg Here’s a little peek into what the future might hold for London – a 500-high-foot building housing a 100,000 people! Reports predict that by 2015, London will need to provide housing for a million more people; UK-Company Popular Architecture is proposing the idea of building this tower that will be so big it will require its own system of government with the building split up into neighborhoods, villages and super districts that will have its own representatives. Popular Architecture foresees this tower being located in East London. Calling it will an eco friendly building, this mammoth housing structure will be peppered with 20-storey high holes which will act as public spaces containing public gardens and swimming pools. And how is the building eco friendly? According to its designers, “the tower would allow the city’s population to expand without significant impact to the architectural fabric on the ground.”

Three times larger than anything else built in the city right now, what’s keeping the designers from starting working on the actual physical structure? Mr. Moneybags of course! The architects claim there are some investors interested in the design. Now one has to wait and see if this structure actually converts from a design on paper to the real deal!
