TI’s Pocket-Size Pico Projector
In a move that will make business travelers and geeks alike squeal with delight, Texas Instruments, maker of fine calculators, has managed to engineer a DLP projector so small that it can fit into a cell phone without trouble. The Pico projector is only 1.3 inches long, and puts out DVD-quality images in wide-screen TV resolutions from a lens small enough to replace the camera on your phone, or even be added next to it.
Using this kind of technology, displayable movies and videos on the go could become the norm, and business travelers could keep presentations on their phones or have them sent to their phones remotely and simply use the phone and existing mobile networks to send and retrieve presentations and videos. No pricing or release information is available yet, or even iwhether Texas Instruments plans to go commercial with the invention, but we can only hope.
