Want to tout just how precise your ‘bot is? Make it do things your average flesh-and-bones body struggles with, like playing a violin. A robot by Toyota that looks a lot like the company’s TPR-Robina did just that at a press conference in Japan, rolling out a rendition of “Pomp and Circumstance” without the assistance of speakers or anything else that would fill in the gaps. Nope, the ‘bot performed admirably, according to PhysOrg, with articulated fingers manipulating the appropriate strings, while its right hand held the bow.

The violin-bot stands around five feet tall and is more of a showcase of what Toyota’s robotics technology is capable of rather than a product. We wouldn’t mind if these things were seen complimenting player pianos, though.
